About ICSEI 2023

It will be our pleasure to welcome you to the ICSEI Conference in Viña del Mar, Chile, January 10-13, 2023.

ICSEI 2023 will be hosted by Chile’s three Leadership Centers, which collectively involve 15 institutions representing universities, VET tertiary institutions, and foundations with a long tradition in educational development. These institutions, which expand from Chile’s most northern city to Chile’s most southern large city, have made significant contributions to educational research, policy, and practice in Chile and internationally. Our scholars work across areas of assessment and accountability, teacher education, diversity, equity and inclusion, educational econometrics, and educational leadership, ranging from early childhood to tertiary education. The vision statements of our Centers resonate with the purpose of ICSEI, in its contribution to enhancing the quality and equity of education for all students in an educational system committed to democracy and environmental sustainability.

We welcome the opportunity to host ICSEI 2023 as we examine how educational systems worldwide are learning to develop local solutions with a global perspective for remaining schooling under challenging circumstances. The moral imperative to expand the arch of educational justice has been exacerbated as we observe how the global pandemic has left educational systems struggling to adequately meet the old and new needs of children, young people, and school practitioners who serve them. In a worldwide environment characterized by volatility, uncertainty, change, and ambiguity, learning at the individual, collective, organizational, and inter-organizational levels is key to ensuring we continue to provide equitable and quality education that leaves no one behind.

The Covid 19 pandemic has imposed great challenges on all education systems around the world, with major impact especially on the most vulnerable students. It is also an opportunity for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to collaborate, both locally and globally, to identify and research best practices and policies. It has presented an opportunity to reimagine the 21st century school; one that creates and innovates to improve learning opportunities and lives for all children and youth, in Chile and around the world.

Chile’s three Leadership Centers invite you to join the congress and engage in the conversations among  school leaders, policy makers and practitioners as we discuss ideas and share experiences on school improvement for all learners and the professionals who work.
